Eremothecium coryli (Peglion) Kurtzman 1995
This yeast is widely distributed and infects the seeds of hazelnut, cotton, soybean and several other crops. On hazelnut, the kernels are affected which first show necrotic lesions on the surface and then develop a dry rot. During outbreaks, more than half of the nuts may be diseased. The pathogen is transmitted by plant-sucking bugs (Pentatomidae), e.g. see Esquivel and Medrano (2019).
