Effect of exterior surface texture on cockroach jar trap efficacy
Environmental Entomology 12 (3), 744-747
Abstract: Laboratory and field tests indicated that cockroach jar traps with a modified exterior caught significantly more cockroaches than unmodified traps. A total of 2,509 cockroaches were trapped: 47% Periplaneta fuliginosa (Serville), 44% Parcoblatta fulvescens (Saussure and Zehntner), 5% Parcoblatta spp., and 4% Periplaneta americana (L.). Of the cockroaches trapped, 44% were unsexed nymphs, 11% were males, and 45% were females. The exterior modifications also influenced the total number and sizes of 811 P. fuliginosa nymphs trapped.
