New species of egg-parasitoids of the genus Gryon (Hymenoptera, Scelionidae) from Israel
Entomological Review 85 (7), 811-818
Abstract: New species of the genus Gryon, G. argus, G. oxitomum, G. semirufum, G. brevior, and G. oligomerum, are described. Gryon argus is similar to G. coronatum Kononova, but differs in the proportions of the metasoma (as long as wide), presence of longitudinal wrinkles at the base of the mesosomal and metasomal tergite II, and coloration of the antennae (only five apical segments dark brown, others yellow). Gryon oxitomum is similar to G. semirufum and differs from it in the metasoma wider than long, shortened postmarginal vein (3 times as long as the stigmal one, against 2.1 times in G. semirufum), and coloration of the antennae (in G. semirufum, only the basal segment yellow and others brown). Gryon semirufum differs from G. oxitomum in the shape of the body, sculpture of the head, fore-wing venation, and coloration of the antennae. Gryon brevior is closely related to G. superbum Kononova, but differs from it in the sculpture of the head (frontal depression not strigate; occiput bearing no arcuate wrinkles, mesosomal without longitudinal wrinkles at base), in the presence of transverse dark stripes on the fore wing and in the length of the postmarginal vein (twice as long as the stigmal vein). Gryon oligomerum is distinguished by the body shape, structure of the head (semicircular in dorsal view, round in front view, deeply depressed on frons), and the fore wing bearing a dark spot in area of veins.
