Abstract: The behavioural and neurophysiological responses of Schistocerca gregaria and Locusta migratoria to a series of solutions of increasing complexity have been studied. No one pattern of neurophysiological response is associated with either acceptance or rejection. Possible mechanisms of signalling acceptance and rejection are discussed.
