Empoasca Walsh, 1864

The genus includes small, often greenish leafhoppers with white marks on the head. Various important plant pests, like the potato leafhopper, belong to Empoasca.

The adults are typically 3-5 mm long. The vertex is blunt, roundly produced and more than twice as wide between the eyes as the median length. Other characters of the genus include an apical cell on the hindwing which is closed by a submarginal vein.
