Drepanopeziza brunnea (Ellis & Everh.) Rossman & W.C. Allen 2017 - (leaf spot of poplar)
This fungus is wide-spread and causes leaf spot on poplar. It is one of several Drepanopeziza species infecting poplar, e.g. see also Drepanopeziza populi-albae. The spots caused by D. brunnea are very small, about 1 mm in diameter. Outbreaks usually occur in spring when the new leaves become infected by the conidia formed on the fallen leaves from the previous year. Heavy infestations give the trees a bronzed appearance and cause early dropping of the leaves.
