Didymella macrostoma (Mont.) Qian Chen & L. Cai 2015 - (Brooks fruit spot of apple)
This fungus is widespread and causes fruit spots on apple and various diseases on a variety of plants. These include leaf spot as well as root, leaf and crown rot diseases. Some strains have been also studied as a weed pathogen and cause the white tip disease on Canada thistle. In cultures, the pycnidia are around 100 µm in diameter and conidia are aseptate, hyaline, and elliptical, about 8 x 3 µm in size.
