Desmodium tortuosum (weed) (Sw.) DC. - (Florida beggarweed)

D. tortuosum has been previously grown for forage in south-eastern North America. When cropping systems changed, it became an important agricultural weed, affecting crops like peanuts, cotton and soybeans. In peanut fields, it is often the dominant weed, growing over the peanut plant late in the season and reducing yield significantly.
