Dendrolimus tabulaeformis Tsai & Liu, 1962 - (Chinese pine caterpillar)
The moth infests pine trees in some parts of Asia like northern China. During outbreaks, tree growth is reduced and heavy infestation might even cause tree death. Mainly Pinus tabulaeformis is affected. Areal applications of insecticides and Bt have been used for control. There is one generation per year and 4th or 5th instar larvae overwinter at the base of the trees.
