Delphinium occidentale (weed) S. Watts - (duncecap larkspur)

This poisonous weed is found in western parts of North America, where it grows mainly in mountain rangelands. It can be involved in livestock poisoning. However, toxicity depends on the geographic location of the larkspur population (Cook et al., 2009).

D. occidentale is a tall-growing larkspur species, reaching a height of about 1½ m. The flowers are light blue. It might hybridize with Delphinium barbeyi if both species occur in the same area.
