Delia platura (Meigen) - (seedcorn maggot)
The fly is a widely distributed and polyphagous pest, in contrast to its relative Delia antiqua which is specialized on Allium crops. D. platura is found in temperate regions and destroys the young plants emerging from the germinating seeds. The larvae particularly attack vegetables and cereals.
