Delia florilega (Zetterstedt, 1845) - (bean seed maggot)
This fly is widely distributed in North America and Europe. It is polyphagous but infests mainly legumes, onions and Brassica species, feeding on developing seeds and mining the stems or roots.
D. florilega is very similar morphologically to Delia platura and both species are often confused. While there are only minor morphological differences, both are separate species and do not interbreed (Kim & Eckenrode, 1984).
