Culicoides kibunensis Tokunaga, 1937
The species of biting midge is widely distributed in Europe and has been also found in neighbouring regions, as well as in parts of Asia. It feeds mainly on birds, but has been also occasionally reported to have fed on humans and other mammals (Lassen et al., 2012 and Tomazatos et al., 2020).
