Culex hortensis Ficalbi, 1889
This mosquito species is found in the Mediterranean Region and neighbouring countries. The hosts are mainly amphibians and reptiles. It breeds in stagnant fresh water, including small pools, ponds, wells, puddles, flooded areas and marshes.
