Culex atratus Theobald, 1901
The distribution of this mosquito extends from south-eastern North America, over Central America to parts of South America. In a location in Florida, U.S., the main hosts have been determined to be lizards of the genus Anolis. It breeds in stagnant water and lays floating egg clusters directly on the surface (Reeves et al., 2019).
