Comperiella bifasciata (parasitoid) Howard, 1906
This species is an important parasitoid of armoured scale insects like the citrus red scale (Aonidiella aurantii) and is or has been produced commercially. It is native in Europe, Asia, and parts of the Pacific, and has been released in other regions invaded by the red scale, as part of classical biological control programs. In 1941/42 it was first released in California from China, and after having established successfully was shipped from there to other regions infested by the red scale (Bartlett et al., 1978).
Other species of Aonidiella and some other scale insects can be also parasitised. Several races of C. bifasciata seem to exist which differ in their preference for certain host plants and certain host species,
