Comovirus severum

Assigned virus:
cowpea severe mosaic virus (CPSMV)

This cowpea severe mosaic virus causes an important disease of cowpea in South and Central America. It can also infect some other legume crops. Typical symptoms can include mottling, mosaic, severe blistering as well as leaf deformations. Chrysomelid beetles like Cerotoma arcuata have been reported to transmit the virus.
