Chortoglyphidae - Chortoglyphus arcuatus (Troupeau, 1879)

The Chortoglyphidae is a small family of astigmatic mites that have been mainly associated with the nests of rodents. Chortoglyphus arcuatus belongs to this family but is mainly known as a storage pest in houses and farms. It is widely distributed and can be common on stored food and in dust samples. Like other storage and dust mites, it can be also a source of allergies (e.g. see Morgan & Arlian, 2006).
