Chilo infuscatellus Snellen - (early shoot borer, sugarcane shoot borer)
The moth is found in southern parts of Asia. It attacks sugarcane, usually before node formation, damaging the leaves and the growing point. The main damage done includes dead heart of seedlings, breakage of the stems, as well as a reduction of sugar yield and quality.
