Chickpea chlorotic dwarf virus (CpCDV)

This virus is found in western Asia, the Near East and different parts of Africa. It infects chickpea, other plants of the family Fabaceae and some other dicots. In chickpea it causes stunting and phloem browning in the collar region. The leaves show either chlorosis or reddening. Infections frequently result in more than 50% yield losses, with infections in young plants resulting in total losses.

The genome of CpCDV consists of a single circular ssDNA molecule, 2.5–2.7 kb in size, with four open reading frames. It encodes a movement protein, a capsid protein, and 2 replication associated proteins.
