Chaitophorus populialbae (Boyer de Fonscolombe, 1841)

This aphid is widely distributed in Europe, in temperate parts of Asia and in parts of Africa. It has been also recorded from North America (e.g. Foottit et al., 2006). It colonises poplar trees and the the colonies are usually attended by ants.

The young nymphs are whitish, larger one and wingless adults have green marks. In the winged forms, the head and thorax is black, antennae and legs brownish and the abdomen is mainly green.
