Cervus elaphus Linnaeus 1758 - (red deer)

Red deer can damage crops and forest trees. For example, bark-stripping weakens the trees and can lead to fungus infections (Pusz et al., 2021). It has been reported on a number of different forest trees (e.g. Månsson & Jarnemo, 2013). At high populations, it can also cause losses in pastures or crops. It is specially of concern in areas where it has been introduced, like Australia or New Zealand.
