Boeremia exigua (Desm.) Aveskamp, Gruyter & Verkley, 2010
This fungus is widely distributed in temperate and subtropical regions, infecting leaves, stems, roots and tubers of a large variety of crops and other plants. The diseases caused include necroses, blights and rots. The asexual pycnidia are dark and sphaerical with a nonpapillated ostiole. The conidia are elongated, hyaline and unicellular, with a size of about 5-7 x 3 µm.
Various subspecies have been described, based on morphological, molecular and cultural characteristics as well as host plants. These include (see Aveskamp et al. 2010):
