Blueberry virus A (BVA)

This virus has been described from Japan as a latent (symptomless) virus from certain blueberry cultivars (Isogai et al., 2013). It has been also found associated with the blueberry bronze leaf curl disease in Michigan, U.S.A. Plants infected with that disease show a bronze to red leaf colour in mid-summer with some leaves curling upwards. The symptomless presence of the virus in Japan suggests that the disease observed in North America could be the result of mixed infections. See Martin et al. (2012) for an overview of this virus.
