Bipolaris mycoviruses (antagonist)
Plant pathogenic fungi from the genus Bipolaris can be infected by several mycoviruses. For example Bipolaris victoriae (syn. Helminthosporium victoriae) is the host of the mycoviruses 'Helminthosporium victoriae virus 190S' (HvV190S) from the family Totiviridae and the 'Helminthosporium victoriae 145S virus' (assigned to Alphachrysovirus helminthosporii) from the family Chrysoviridae. HvV190S has double-stranded RNA with 2 open reading frames. 'Bipolaris maydis botybirnavirus 1' (BmBRV1) infects B. maydis, the agent of southern corn leaf blight and belongs to the family Botybirnaviridae.
