BCVBV has been found in Brazil, Taiwan and India. It infects Bougainvillea, causing symptoms like mottling, chlorosis, vein-banding, leaf distortion, and stunting. It has been transmitted through grafting. The DNA genome of the strain studied contains 8759 bp with 4 open reading frames.
