Bactrocera neohumeralis (Hardy) - (lesser Queensland fruit fly)
This fruit fly is found in northern parts of eastern Australia and in PNG. It is polyphagous and attacks guava and other fruits. B. neohumeralis is similar in appearance, biology and distribution compared with Bactrocera tryoni and both species can be confused. However, B. neohumeralis has dark postprotonotal lobes (see arrow on illustration of thorax below).
