Bacillus cereus (antagonist) Frankland and Frankland

As a rhizobacterium, B. cereus is an antagonist against fungal and bacterial pathogens. It is often described as increasing resistance to plant diseases by excreting resistance elicitors (e.g. Huang et al., 2012). Above-ground application is also possible (e.g. Aoki et al., 2017).

Suitable strains further suppress plant parasitic nematodes (e.g. Amin et al. 2014) or the bacterial disease of honey bees, Paenibacillus larvae (Minnaard & Alippi, 2016).
