Bacillus amyloliquefaciens (antagonist) (ex Fukumoto 1943) Priest et al. 1987

The bacterium has antagonistic properties, colonizes the rhizosphere and can protect crops against soil-borne plant pathogens. It is commercially available. However, some strains have been also reported to cause diseases on crops.

B. amyloliquefaciens produces various metabolites with antimicrobial activity against fungi and bacteria. Like other species of the genus Bacillus it forms durable endospores which can be easily stored and formulated for agricultural applications.
