Aureobasidium caulivorum (Kirchn.) Karak. 1923 - (clover scorch disease)

The fungus infects mainly clover, causing eyespots and necrotic lesions on stems and leaves. Stems often die off, resulting in wilting of the plants. In susceptible cultivars up to 50% of the plant can be affected and a cool and moist environment promotes the disease. In Australia, mixed infections of the fungus and Bean yellow mosaic virus cause a severe necrotic disease. The fungus overwinters as mycelium and acervuli. The conidia are slightly curved and around 10-15 µm long.
