Aspidiotus Bouché, 1833
This genus of scale insects is widely distributed and contains around 80 species. A number of them are important agricultural pests like the oleander scale, Aspidiotus nerii, or the coconut scale, Aspidiotus destructor. Both are polyphagous, although the former is particularly common on fruit trees like citrus and the latter on coconut palms.
