Abstract: The last record of the occurrence of Locusta migratoria in Germany was in September 1929, when a female was found near Berlin and a second one near Leipzig. Swarms have been recorded in Germany in 1803, 1825-27, 1856, 1859, 1876 and 1877, although whether the species was L. migratoria is uncertain. In October 1949 a male L. migratoria migratoria was taken near Potsdam.
