Anzeiger für Schädlingskunde, Pflanzenschutz, Umweltschutz 68 (2), 44-45
Abstract: The adaptation of the primary internal parasitoid, Trichogramma evanescens (Westw.), as an egg parasitoid of Lobesia botrana (Den. and Schiff.) was the first report in Alexandria region, Egypt. The life-span of this parasitoid on eggs of L. botrana and Sitotroga cerealella Ol. was investigated.
The duration from egg to adult, longevity of adult stage, sex-ratio and total life cycle each of the two hosts were recorded. The ovipositional periods of mated females of T. evanescens on egg of L. botrana at 27±2co and 75±2% R.H. were studied.
Also, percentages of parasitism by T. evanescens ranged from 22%-64% on the eggs of L. botrana. Therefore, this parasitoid was very efficient as a biocontrol agent against the most serious grape pest L. botrana in Egypt.
