Über Wirkungen von Dieldrin auf die Neurosekretion und die Ovarien von Gryllus assimilis F. (Orthopt., Gryllidae)
[Effects of dieldrin on the neurosecretory system and ovarian development of G. assimilis]
Anzeiger für Schädlingskunde, Pflanzenschutz, Umweltschutz 48 (9), 134-135
Abstract: In female Gryllus assimilis sublethal doses of dieldrin caused changes within the neurosecretory system, haemolymph and ovaries. This entailed a decline of neurosecretory material in the pars intercerebralis and corpora cardiaca, accompanied by a decrease of acid phosphatase activity in the haemolymph. In treated insects the corpora allata were inactive, as indicated by large vacuoles and a concentration of neurosecretory granules within the cytoplasm. Within the ovarioles, oocyte growth was stunted and resorption of oocytes occurred. It was concluded that sublethal amounts of dieldrin could induce sterility by disturbing the endocrine control of oocyte development.
