Gryllus assimilis (Fabricius, 1775) - (Jamaican field cricket)
This cricket is widely distributed in the Americas, from Canada to Argentina. It is highly polyphagous and has been reported to cause occasional damage to vegetables, young forest trees and field crops. Feeding occurs on the leaves and roots. On forest seedlings, mainly the bark is damaged. G. assimilis is considered to be a complex of closely related species (Weissman et al., 2009).
