Amitus bennetti (parasitoid) Viggiani & Evans, 1992
This wasp has been described from the Caribbean as a parasitoid of Bemisia tabaci. Females deposit eggs in the early whitefly stages and the adult wasps emerge from the whitefly pupae. Development of the wasp from egg to adult lasts 4-6 weeks at temperature of 20-25°C (Drost et al., 1999). Experimental releases in field cages have resulted in a high rate of parasitism (Joyce & Bellows, 2000).
