Aenasius Walker, 1846
This genus of encyrtid parasitoids contains around 40 species. The species are solitary endoparasitoids of mealybugs and many are found in tropical parts of Central and South America. Others in tropical and subtropical parts of Asia and Africa.
Several are important parasitoids of pest mealybugs like Aenasius bambawalei in southern Asia which parasitises Phenacoccus solenopsis. The females are 1-2 mm long, with a black, dark brown or metallic colouration.
