The use of mitochondrial cytochrome oxidase I (mt COI) gene sequences for the identification of biotypes of Bemisia tabaci (Gennadius) in China
Acta Entomologica Sinica 45 (6), 759-763
Abstract: Mitochondrial cytochrome oxidase I (mt CO I ) (~ 830 bp) gene sequences were utilized as markers to identify biotypes of 5 populations of Bemisia tabaci in China. Of the 720 characters examined for CO I sequences, only 2 bases exhibited divergence and overall similarity was 99.7% . Examination- of 423 characters in populations from Xi'an and Tulufan revealed that these two populations were of the same haplotype as AZB3. The results indicated that all 5 populations were of the B-biotype.
