[A preliminary report on the fauna of agricultural insects of Ningsha Autonomous Region, China]
Acta Entomologica Sinica 13 (4), 572-580
Abstract: The insects of agricultural importance found in the four geographical regions of the Ningsha District during 1959-63 are listed separately and include Oxya adentata, Calliptamus barbarus cephalotes and Locusta m. migratoria. The insect fauna of the Yingchuan Irrigation Plan area is compared with that in two other, climatically-different, regions. The insects of this region are greatly influenced by-the special climatic condition of the Central Asian part of the Palaearctic region, which is characterized by law precipitation, low temperature, and wide fluctuation in atmospheric temperature. Regular irrigation has raised the humidity and water level in the open fields of the irrigated area. These characteristic climatic conditions inhibit the invasion of many oriental species, but some other groups of insects such as Gryllotalpa unispina and G. africana become prevalent and predominant.
