Preliminary studies on the relations between flooding and locust outbreaks in the Hwai valley and their bearing on control
Acta Entomologica Sinica 9 (2), 101-115
Abstract: The amount and distribution of rainfall in the Hwai Valley outbreak area influences multiplication of Locusta migratoria manilensis. A forward shift of the July-August rains interferes with the development of the summer generation of eggs while a backward shift favours both summer and autumn generations. It is suggested that agricultural methods of control as well as insecticide application should be used.
