[An apparatus for the production of wheat seedlings for feeding locusts in the laboratory]

Abstract: An apparatus for the production of wheat seedlings for feeding locusts in the laboratory is described. The frame is made of iron angle supporting four large tanks; each tank is fitted with eight germinating trays. Water is drawn to the upper tank by a pump operated by an electric time switch and the other tanks are irrigated in turn by a system of syphons. The cost of the apparatus is relatively low and little time is needed for maintenance and cleaning.

Une herbagère pour la production de plantules de Graminées peut aisément être construite sur un cadre de fer cornière supportant quatre grands bacs. Dans ces bacs sont disposés les paniers de germination. Une pompe déclenchée automatiquement par une horloge électrique envoie de l'eau vers le bac du haut, d'où elle descend par un système de siphons d'un bac à l'autre pour revenir enfin dans un container de réserve.
L'entretien simple de cette herbagère ne nécessite que peu de temps et le prix de sa construction est relativement modique.
