This wasp is found in Europe and several other parts of the Old World. It is a parasitoid of mealybugs of the genus Pseudococcus and has been released into New Zealand (as Pseudaphycus maculipennis) against the obscure mealybug (Pseudococcus viburni), e.g. see Charles et al. (2015). The adult wasp is 1.5-2 mm large, black to dark gray with striking white tips on the antennae. It is commercially produced in Europe.
