Orthotospovirus alstroemerinecrosis
Assigned virus:
• Alstroemeria necrotic streak virus (ANSV)
The Alstroemeria necrotic streak virus has been described from Colombia as infecting ornamental Alstroemeria plants (Hassani-Mehraban et al., 2010). Infected plants show necrotic streaks on leaves and stems, necrotic rings and veinal necrosis. Natural infections in Colombia have been also observed on tomato, green pepper and lettuce, as well as in ornamental Hoya carnosa plants in California (Tian et al., 2020).
The virus can be transmitted experimentally by western flower thrips (Frankliniella occidentalis). The complete genome sequence has been determined for 3 isolates from bell pepper (Gallo et al., 2019).
