Trichodorus primitivus (de Man, 1880)
This species of stubby root nematode has been recorded from Europe, North America and New Zealand. It feeds on the root tips of various plants, including root crops, cereals and vegetables. Damage to the root tips results in stunted (stubby) roots and poor plant growth. In addition, T. primitivus has been reported to transmit several plant viruses from the genus Tobravirus, for example the Tobacco rattle virus (Otulak et al., 2012).
