Thrips calcaratus Uzel 1895 - (basswood thrips)

The thrips is native in Europe and was accidentially introduced into North America where severe basswood defoliation started in the Great Lakes region in the late 1970s.

Neohydatothrips tiliae is also called "basswood thrips".
