Musca sorbens Wiedemann

The species is a nuisance and hygienic pest in Africa and Asia. It can transmit diseases through contact. For example, it is an eye-seeking fly which feeds on eye secretions and is suspected to transmit trachoma, an infectious diseases caused by the bacterium Chlamydia trachomatis that causes blindness and affects >500,000 persons, mainly in sub-Saharan Africa. M. sorbens breeds in human excrements and feces of domestic animals.
