Bursaphelenchus fraudulentus Rühm, 1956
This nematode has been recorded in the northern hemisphere on broad-leaved as well as on conifer trees. It has been detected in weakened and dead trees, but appears to have no negative effects on the host trees. Like other Bursaphelenchus species, the nematode seems to be vectored by long-horned beetles and feeds on fungi. It has been found associated with the important tree pathogen Armillaria solidipes (Tomalak, 2017). B. fraudulentus is closely related to Bursaphelenchus mucronatus.
