Arion A. Ferussac, 1819 - (garden slugs)

This is a genus of land slugs and contains around 40 species. Several are important agricultural pests which infest vegetables, herbs, strawberries and crops like oilseed rape or potatoes. The highest species diversity is found in the Iberian Peninsula.

The genus is characterized by the upper surface being divided into an anterior part (mantle) lacking any finger-print-like ridges and a grooved posterior part. In addition, the general shape, the lack of a shell and the structure of the genital system are characteristic
