Anopheles minimus Theobald, 1901
This mosquito is an important malaria vector in southern parts of Asia. Its main distribution area ranges from north-western India to southern China and south to most parts of Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam. In these areas, it mainly bites humans during the first half of the night, and can be also associated with livestock. It can be found in a variety of habitats from forests to agricultural areas and it breeds in various water accumulations like rice fields, ponds, wells and ditches. A. minimus is closely related to Anopheles harrisoni and both species can occur together in some areas.
