Betabaculovirus adoranae (entomopathogen)

Assigned virus:
Adoxophyes orana granulovirus (AdorGV)

The Adoxophyes orana granulovirus infects caterpillars of the summer fruit tortrix (Adoxophyes orana) and other Adoxophyes species. The virus can be applied as spray to pome/stone fruits and tea against Adoxophyes larvae, for example against emerging young overwintering larvae. It is commercially available and is regarded by the European Food Safety Authority (2012) as having a low risk to birds, mammals, aquatic organisms, non-target arthropods (including honey bees), earthworms and soil microorganisms.

The genome of the virus has a size of 99,657 bp and has been sequenced (Wormleaton et al., 2003).
